So I'm poking around to compare prices and went to the box set tab and couldnt find the non collectors complete Europe 72. Not a big deal I dont have the money right now but what I did see was the So many Roads box set for get this $150!!!! WTF? FIVE discs for 150? First of all it's not all that good, was a lame collection imo. Gans And Jacksons hands may have been tied but they should have bagged it in my opinion. Most of the truley good parts ( like beautiful Jam ) most of us already have anyway. To be honest, and this may make Cliff puke blood, the disc I listen to the most is the last one, to kind of see how their last album would play out ( I think it would have been the strongest Garcia input in awhile for sure ) plus Whiskey in a Jar is cool. So anyway I'm trying to understand - Complete Europe 72 at $450 for 72 discs is $6.50 a disc, So many Roads is $30 a disc? Does it come with a genuine Owsley tab and a time machine to go back and see some shows? If not who the hell would even consider this?

jots, I have So Many Roads and I agree w/ you. Overpriced and only about half of the music is worth it. The disc I listen to by miles is disc 5! I love track #2. And I do listen to it quite a bit (once a month). Disc 2 is good, with the Watkins Glen sound check getting top honors. The rest is spotty; redundant, boring or awful.

Box sets are for suckers -- especially with this band.

"Does it come with a genuine Owsley tab and a time machine to go back and see some shows?"

You are a marketing genius.

an awful compilation. I really don't get how they came up with such a horrible 5 disc box set. What a mystery.

While there were misses, they got it right in places.

The Same Thing
Beautiful Jam
Stella Blue
Eyes of the World
Shakedown (sound not so good, performance? hot.)
Playing in the Band
Death Don't Have no Mercy
Disc Five. Would have preferred the non-edit So Many Roads (or a different one)

My copy walked away. These are the MP3s that still get played.
